BrewBike Drinks & What I Love About All of Them

BrewBike is unlike any other coffee shop you’ve been to. Some of our campus locations are decked out with a full espresso machine and all the fancy syrups. What makes BrewBike so awesome is that no matter what location you end up at, you will be able to find the same quality coffee and see how well we adapt to our spaces. My campus, Texas State University, we have one bike that sits in the quad for all of our students to hit on their way to class as well as a micro-retail location in one of the dining halls for when our students have a little bit more time. Besides being entirely run by students of all different backgrounds and stories, we are all united by our delicious drinks. Let’s go through a few now!
First up are our classic cold-brewed coffees and teas! You can’t go wrong with either the creamy Cinnamon Brown Sugar Cold Brew or our classic Original Cold Brew. I love them both paired with Oat or Soy Milk. Our cold brews are made with love almost every day by our Production teams and are enjoyed by hundreds of students every day. When our student brewers do a brewing session, they grind the coffee beans and prepare the ingredients in large filter bags that sit overnight in water to reach maximum caffeine and deliciousness levels. The next day, the brewers come back and double strain the cold brew to make sure we are only getting the good stuff in the kegs! The kegs are then filled with cold brew after the product is double-checked and diluted. Next, they’re sealed up and tagged and are ready to enjoy. The process of making a batch of cold brew can last anywhere from 14-18 hours depending on the amount of cold brew our brewers make. I, personally, love all the work and the entire process of brewing because it truly is a labor of love. Brewing is one of the main things I miss about being on campus!
You can get either of our cold brews in a kit that you can make at home from our website! You simply put the cold brew packets in water overnight in your fridge and the next morning you have delicious cold brew. These batches come in packs of either 5 or 10, depending on how much coffee you want. Unfortunately, you will not be able to get the rest of the drinks I talk about from our online store.
Next up are the Chai Lattes. Now, Chai and Matcha lattes are something you can get at Texas State at our micro-retail location in Jones Dining Hall. As you may know, a Chai Latte is a Black Tea infused with cinnamon and clove that can be combined with steamed or cold milk and topped with cinnamon sprinkling. Chai is actually lower in caffeine than coffee so if you’re looking for a low caffeine drink at BrewBike, this one’s the best choice. The spices used in many Chai blends also help promote one's health. Ginger, for example, has anti-inflammatory properties and is known to be high in antioxidants! Chai Lattes were my favorite thing for snuggling up in the library on a cold, windy day as they helped to keep me warm, focused, and healthy. As with any BrewBike drink, you can add Oat or Soy Milk as well as honey or cinnamon with any choice. I recommend adding a little bit of honey to the chai in order to boost the other flavors, add a touch of sweetness, and allow the spices to really shine through your cup.
Last, but certainly not least, we have the Matcha Lattes. Matcha is a finely ground powder pressed from green tea leaves! Matcha is by far one of my favorite drinks at BrewBike not only because it’s tasty but because of the awesome health benefits as well. Because Matcha comes from green tea leaves, it is more potent than other brewed teas. According to Spoon University.com, when you drink Matcha, you get 100% of the nutrients, including 137 times more the antioxidants you would get from a regular cup of tea. Matcha also contains a crazy amount of caffeine! One teaspoon of Matcha has about 70 milligrams of caffeine while an espresso shot contains only about 64 milligrams of caffeine. Matcha can also boost your metabolism, get rid of bad breath, stabilize blood sugar levels, and lower blood pressure. So, if you’re looking for a health boost with your daily caffeine fix, our Matcha lattes are right up your alley!
All in all, I love every single drink I have served to my customers at Texas State and would not serve them if I did not love and understand each of them. In the future, I hope you can feel wonderful about the drinks we serve each of you and know that they are made with love. Now, you have interesting facts about each of our drinks and have a better understanding of how they all work! What a wonderful thing to know.
